This Pinot is part of an investigation into a relatively new site on the fringe of the Martinborough Appellation. Located 6 kilometres south of town on a beautifully exposed western slope with soils comprised predominantly of loess and clay. The Winemaking was exploratory with 100% whole bunches employed during ferment and only gentle foot treading on rare occasion. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with absolutely no additions or sulphites used.
Vibrant dark fruit is tempered by aromatic whole bunch spices and positive botanic elements. I think of the forest with spruce, juniper and aromatic woods grappling with wild berries and earth-bound scents.
